A hot, humid evening set the scene for the Annual Outlook cricket match at Harrold Cricket Club, fighting for the Mark Clayson Memorial Trophy after our loss the previous year. After conceeding 101 runs to the opposition, Gary and Rich opened the batting for Outlook, setting the expectations of the pairs to follow with a score of 15! After great performances (and a few wickets!) from Kay and Mat, Alexie and Andy W, Bob and Andy B, James and Bill, we were left with, what seemed to be unreachable target of 35 for the last pairing – but Jason and Nick (part of the extended Outlook team!) bravely battled through the final four overs under the setting sun, striking the ball with all the grace of W.C himself! As the remaining over approached, Outlook were within a handful of runs to clinch victory, winding the spectators up into a frenzy of anticipation not seen since ‘66 and when the final ball was delivered, we thought it was all over, and it was, with a final score of 107! The end of a long summer’s day ended with a lovely fragrance in the air – the sweet smell of Victory!
