The Brief

Our relationship with Santen began in 2020, when we worked together at a time of need to quickly adapt their event output to unprecedented and ever-changing global conditions.

What started as us producing their virtual events for eyecare professionals in the UK and Ireland—and creating a platform to host them on—soon evolved into a collaboration spanning over 200 projects and every Outlook Creative service, including platform revisions that have delivered gradual growth.

Four years on, Santen wanted to catapult their virtual events platform forward in the eyecare education space—the goal was for SEE (Santen Eyecare Education) to be not ‘just’ a website, but a best-in-class eLearning and hosting platform that empowers Santen’s stakeholders to ‘see more than ever before’.

Our Approach

Building a first-rate eLearning and events platform means connecting your audience with what they’re looking for via the most efficient and engaging route.

To establish exactly what those needs are for Santen’s customers, we hosted a series of in-person workshops and focus groups—collaborative discussions that proved invaluable to shaping the overall UX and navigation.

It was clear that a personalised user journey would be key to achieving Santen’s goal of boosting user engagement. Our developers proposed lots of fun gamification tactics (certificates, tailored learning suggestions, CPD hours tracking, etc.) to make this even more enticing.

Our extensive research also informed the clean and striking visual identity, created using the blues of the Santen colour palette. Not only did this bring added cohesion; it underpinned an overall design approach that places the platform above and beyond its competitors.

The Outcome

Following extensive testing, demos with key account managers, and even more testing for good measure, we launched the fully optimised SEE eLearning platform in August 2024 to a great reception—in particular, the visual identity we created has proved so successful that it’s sparked an update to a range of Santen assets.

The new platform delivers a host of additional benefits to help Santen meet their objectives, from the ability to promote new content to users, to real-time updates and notifications.

But of course, the success of a digital solution lies in its metrics. To support the platform analytics going forward, we created a comprehensive reporting suite for Santen to leverage for their data needs.
